HOW TO MAKE MONEY ONLINE AS A TEACHER…

If you’re a teacher,

and you’re probably looking for ways to make money to supplement or possibly replace your teacher salary without selling fish/crayfish, clothes, appliances etc to your fellow teachers.

In this post, I’m sharing 5+ ways that you can money online from turning your teacher skills and experiences into an online business with multiple revenue streams.

A few disclaimers:

👉 I’m not a teacher and I actually think I am terrible at teaching. But I was raised by teachers.

👉 Over the years, I have worked with teachers and educators in the US/UK as a VA, offering them various services, and I’ve seen first hand how they make money online and eventually quit the classroom to give their online business the much needed attention since it brings them more income than their salaries.

I’m sharing with you exactly what I’ve seen them do. You can adapt these methods to your environment to get results.

👉 I want you to know that these are not get-rich-quick methods. You have to commit to putting in the work – especially in the beginning.

IT IS WORK… LOTS OF WORK. Which can be sometimes frustrating in the beginning especially if you aren’t seeing any results.

It will be demanding of your time and ability to stretch yourself, but if you stick with it, your hard work will pay off and eventually bring in passive income.

1. CREATE AND SELL RESOURCES

As a teacher, you already know what your students struggle with the most.

You can take that knowledge and create helpful resources that your students, their parents, other students and teachers can benefit from.

From printables to worksheets, to walkthrough tutorials, flash cards etc, your options are endless.

You can sell this resources at marketplaces like ETSY, TPT or Amazon.

TPT: is an online marketplace dedicated fir teachers. Educators, teachers, parents go here to buy resources for their schools, classrooms and children. They pay you 80% of your sales and keep the 20% for platform fee and marketing.

You can start today!

Visit TPT, Etsy or Pinterest and search for ‘printable resources in maths for 8th graders’ for example, to get ideas of what people are creating, and inspiration for your own. (Search for your subject area and for the class or age group that you teach)

2. CREATE A BLOG

You already have the basic skill you need to start a blog– writing, and niche.

You can start a blog to share tips, hacks and resources for teachers like you, or tips that’ll be helpful for parents and students.

I have worked with clients who writes blogs to talk about :

1. Behaviours and ethics for both teachers and students,

2. Teachers fashion- wearing what’s acceptable while still being stylish and fashionable,

3. Blogs dedicated to teachers and parents of students with various speech and developmental challenges

4. Subject based content– to provide simple hacks to help students understand, fall in love with and master their most dreaded subjects.

You can and should start a blog. We all need it.

With your blog, your earning potential is endless.

👉 You can sell your products (created in 1 above) on your blog,

👉 You can earn from ads, affiliates, sponsors etc.

3. Become a VA

Most of my teacher clients I’ve worked with always preferred to have a VA with a teaching or education experience to write for their blogs. Or help them with course creation.

So, you can become a VA and offer your services to teachers, educators, educational organizations, and course creators in the education niche.

4. CREATE AND SELL EBOOKS AND COURSES

Apparently, you can’t teach your students everything they need to know around a particular subjects in the classroom.

They’ll still need to go and find helpful textbooks and resources to fill up the gaps and be ready for the external exams.

Now, this where you come in, You can make money by creating ebooks and courses that are specifically tailored to their pains, struggles and those gaps they need to fill, courses that dives deeper than what’s covered in the classroom.

Add the courses to your blog, online marketplaces, course platforms like Selar (Nigeria) and market them to your students, their parents, other schools and on social media.

5. DEVELOP AND SELL CURRICULUM

You already develop curriculum/lesson notes for each term and academic calendar..

You can sell it online.

There probably are many new teachers who struggle with this, or parents who want to homeschool their kids but needs a curriculum or plan to follow. You can sell to them and also sell on the marketplaces I suggested earlier.

You can also develop curriculum for course creators.

6. BECOME AN ONLINE TUTOR, OR START TEACHING ONLINE

Online teaching and tutoring are 2 different things. You can Google to find the differences.

But both of them are the easiest ways you can make money online without living your home.

There are many websites and Platforms that you can register to start tutoring or teaching online. A little bit of research can help you find them.
